CODE OF THE INC. VILLAGE OF HEWLETT HARBOR
Our local laws, ordinances, and resolutions are designed by your fellow residents to maintain the beauty and
quality of life in “The Harbor.” Residents are asked to comply with our laws so that Hewlett Harbor can retain
its prestigious yet rural feel as a community.

We encourage you to read through the village ordinances and become familiar with them.
All codes are reviewed on a monthly basis and available here.

If you have any ideas or want to make suggestions regarding changes, additions, or deletions with regard to your village ordinances, please come to a regularly scheduled Village Board meeting held the 2nd Thursday of each month.

Our building inspectors will enforce the Village Code whenever residents are not in compliance. They are here to preserve the character and rights of the residents.

When contemplating a renovation or new construction, please contact Village Hall for advice and information regarding applications for permits. The Village building inspectors are willing to assist you as you begin and complete your project.
If, for some reason, your application is denied, you have the right to appeal the decision to the Board of Zoning Appeals. The Zoning Board of Appeals meets approximately once per month.

This board is made up of five residents of the Village who are willing to issue variances if a case can be made by the applicant such that the character of the neighborhood remains the same, no alternatives are available, the variance requested is not substantial, there is no impact on the physical or environmental conditions in the neighborhood, and that the homeowner did not create the difficulty requiring a variance.
